What’s In Your Hands?

Sometimes I feel like I’m stuck. Like the big dream is somewhere out there, and I’m stuck here – waiting for something important to happen. I swing between the two extremes of trying to do everything in my power to make something happen or convincing myself I don’t care anyways.

But I’ve learned there are other options. Here are two small ways to get closer to your big dreams:

The first, look and see what’s in your hands. As dreamers, goal setters and go-getters, we are always looking to the future. We just can’t help ourselves. We’re looking for the next opportunity, the next open door, the next project.

But what about the here and now? What about being faithful with what God has put in your hands? What if God is watching what you do with what’s right in front of you, to see whether or not you’re ready for what’s next? His love is unconditional, but His trust you can gain.

Ask yourself: Based on how I’m using what’s in my hands, am I showing God He can trust me with more?

The second is simple – intimacy.  Friends, the next step in pursuing your God-given dreams is always pursuing God first. When we make Him our biggest dream, our highest priority goal, we actually can’t lose. His presence is always accessible. His love is always available. Initmate time with Jesus will always bring your closer to who you were created to be.

Intimacy is the key to unlocking the door to your dreams.

Ask Yourself: Am I worshiping the dream, or the dream giver?

So the next time you’re feeling stuck, like the door you’ve been knocking on just won’t open, like the dream is just out of reach – first look what God’s already put in your hands and then look to the one who put it there. He is afterall, the giver of all good things.

  1. Thanks for the encouragement Heather. I know for me, I sometimes don’t pay enough attention to the small things right in front of me because I’m looking for the Next Big Thing. But this reminded me to focus on something God has put in front of me, even if it doesn’t seem like something very important to me. It’s being faithful in the small things.
