“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18-19
How long have you been waiting for the Spring? For freshness, a change of season and signs of new life?
Sometimes it feels like Winter lasts forever – hearts turning numb from the harsh cold.
In Isaiah 43 we are shown the path from one season to the next, a way to melt the ice forming over our apathetic hearts and warm them with the first rays of spring sunlight.
“Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past.”
It’s time to stop looking back. It’s time to stop re-living past failures and regrets. It’s time to forgive those wrongs done in the dead of winter. It’s time to look forward with hope. To see the “new thing” just ahead. To believe spring is coming!
We’ve settled for the wasteland of winter for too long. We’ve accepted it as our reality, making a home among the ice and snow of discontent and bitterness. But ever soul longs for spring and was designed to walk through the winter – not make a life there.
Spring is coming. Don’t give up hope. The circumstances you find yourself in today, at this moment, are temporary. What’s eternal is the promise of a loving Father, “I am making a way in the wilderness” .
Cling to his promise today.
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14
