Long Time no Post

I thought I’d just give you all a bit of an update on my life in the last few weeks as I’ve been pretty absent from by blog.  So here’s what’s been going on:

First of all, I spent a week away with my husband in Cuba.  We went back to where we had our honeymoon three years ago and spent a week resting and relaxing in the sun.  It was such a great time for us to reconnect with each other and God.  My favorite part was getting up early, sitting out on the patio reading my bible in the quiet of the morning.

Also, I’ve done a few speaking engagements in the last month and have a few coming up.  I was invited to speak to a group of Young Adults in Winnipeg about “Redefining Success – God’s Way”.  So many young adults are trying to figure out who they are and what their lives are going to be about and get pulled towards the worlds standards and ideals for success.  We are tempted to think that money, popularity, fame and material possessions are more important, and make us more successful, than true intimacy with God.  It was a great night and I had some amazing conversation with people after.

This week I’ll be speaking at a girls club of about 80 girls!  I’m really excited to share the truth about how God sees them and the true beauty they carry because of his image inside of them!

Other than that I’m continuing to work on finishing the manuscript for my youth devotional book (I’m about halfway done), as well as a creative co-write project which I’m totally thrilled about.  I’ll tell you more about that one later.

When I’m not working on speaking or writing projects I’ve been doing some substitute teaching, as well as getting more involved in my home church.  Right now Alex and I are hosting an 8 week marriage course at our church – not teaching it!!! Just helping out!

Some of my goals these days are to spend more time in listening prayer and resting in God’s presence.  It really is the fuel for everything else I do.  I also want to get involved volunteering more regularly in my home church.  Even though I’ve been attending there for over a year and half I still feel a bit disconnected.  I know serving there will be a great way to meet more people and get connected.

What have you been busy with this month?  What gets you excited?  What is driving your forward?  When’s the last time you sat down and wrote out some of your goals for the next month?  I hope you have a blessed week and feel free to comment below with your thoughts.
