This week I have the privilege of speaking at Camp Arnes to a group of 150 Jr. High campers. We had our first chapel last night and I spoke a message entitled “Accepted or Rejected?”. As I was preparing for this week God told me that there were a lot of kids coming to camp this week who have experience some intense rejection in the last year. The word I felt he wanted to speak to them was “I was rejected so that you will never have to be”. What a powerful message!
We all experience feeling rejected, inadequate, overwhelmed or left behind at some point in our lives. There is probably a situation even this past week where you felt as though you weren’t good enough in some way. To be honest, I feel a bit like that this week. How can I, an imperfect, flawed, distracted, Christ-follower ever hope to communicate the powerful truth of God’s word effectively? How can I change the lives of these campers so that they leave more free, more alive, more excited about a life with God? How can I be enough?
I can’t and I don’t have to.
It’s not my words that will change lives, it’s God’s word.
It’s not our love that heals broken hearts, it’s His perfect love.
It’s not our effort that makes us good enough, it’s God’s grace.
You don’t have to strive today – He wants you to soar by the power of his Spirit!
“Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace” Romans 8:5-60
