Tip #2: Get yourself a “Butt Kicker”!

I know this sounds like a funny tip, but I’m dead serious here dreamers!  Some would call this accountability, but I call it “butt kicking” because, lets be honest, most of us dreamer-types are pretty determined.

Some may even call us stubborn.

And as much as determination is an admirable quality, it also means that if we want good accountability in our lives, we need someone who is just as stubborn as we are.

That’s why I married my husband.

I found a man who was more stubborn than me, and immediately proposed! (well not really, but he was a keeper) I always knew I needed someone who could, every once in awhile, in the most loving way possible, give me a good butt-kickin’.

Your butt-kicker can ask you questions like this:

“What goals have you set for yourself recently?”

“What are you doing THIS WEEK to achieve those goals?”

“Why on earth are you spending so much time on Pinterest when you have a book to write?!” (this is what my butt-kicker might say to me…)

If we really want to see our big dreams come true, we need good people around to encourage us and push us to be the best we can be.  And sometimes it’s better if this person isn’t our husband.  It can be a friend, a mentor, or even a life coach – someone you actually pay to kick your butt!

Imagine that.  Paying for a whoopin’.

So that’s Tip:2 Get yourself a Butt-Kicker!

Do you already have this kind of accountability in your life? How did you find it and how often do you meet?

I’d love to hear some of your thoughts in the comments!

  1. I am in love with your Dreamer Workshop. Lately I have been doing so much thinking about my dreams but feeling discouraged thinking that I will never get there. Your advice is so great, and I have to completely agree that my husband would serve me well as my butt-kicker… and he would remind me to get off of Pinterest, too!

  2. This may sound weird but my husband is my butt kicker! If I voice a dream or idea to him, he is the one who encourages me! So great to have someone be your cheerleader and give you that confidence and kick in the butt hehe

  3. yes, my hubs has been kicking my butt on time spent on social media lately. at first i was resistant, but yesterday i was humbled and convicted and got to work on other stuff…

  4. Alright, I am telling my BFF and Sister in Christ that she is my new BUTT KICKER!!! You are inspiring me, maybe if you had time to read a little about my story, http://contemplatingbeauty.blogspot.com/2011/09/my-journey-thus-far.html

I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback!

I’ve always wanted to be a speaker and/or be published! You are really getting me thinking! I haven’t been in touch with “dreams” for so long!
