“There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven” Eccl 3:1
The full bloom of a yellow lily
The flexibility of a branch carrying life to leaves
A refreshing plunge into the lake
Tangy raspberries right from the bush
Summer is truly a magical season, one that satisfies all of my senses each time it comes around. But summer doesn’t last forever – not here in Canada at least. Each season brings its joys and pains.
I’ve always found it a useful spiritual practice to ready Ecclesiastes 3 and define the season of spiritual life I am in currently. It helps me understand and accept my situation and reminds me that its not forever.
What season are you in right now? A time to heal? A time to laugh? A time to speak?
Right now I’m in “a time to build”. God has given me a vision for my future and I am preparing myself for the next steps.
Whatever season you are in remember these verses:
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live.”
No matter which season you are in be aware of these 2 truths:
1. God makes it beautiful in its time. He truly can and will bring beauty from ashes, every time. He will take was was meant for evil and use it for good, if you allow him.
2. God has given us an insatiable hunger for heaven. No matter how much we embrace each season of life, we were made for heaven and will feel a longing for it until we get there. And that is okay!0
